Anniversary Cake Design

Here, I am ready to take my cakes to the next level. Finally! Decided to try my hands on Two-tiered Chocolate Cake. These tiered cakes just add ‘wow’ factor to the cakes, making them more special for the particular event. And of course they get more attention. I prepared this cake for the anniversary of my brother and sister-in-law. They really loved the texture and taste.

Use of Dowels:

The cake layer which was stacked sank a bit into the underneath layer because I forgot to assemble them with dowels this time. No worries, as it was my first try so I took it as a lesson for the future. There are different kinds of dowels used to support the cakes. They can be of plastic or wooden or any other. These dowels must be food safe and should be removed during cake cutting.

Procedure:

We have to bake Sponge with 600 grams premix powder in 8 inch baking tin. Secondly we have to bake another sponge with 300gm premix powder in 6 inch baking tin. Cut these sponges into 6 layers. Now to start with fixing the cake, we need 14 inch round cake base/cake board. Apply a little cream at its base. Set the big layer of sponge on the base and fill and frost as usual. Put in the refrigerator till it becomes chill.

Take another small cake base than previous one and place it in the middle of the cake top. Lightly trace the outline with a toothpick. Take a plastic dowel and put it into the cake, inside the markings. Mark the tallness of the cake with your thumb, take the dowel out, mark with a pen and cut. Utilize that dowel as an aide while cutting different dowels. I utilized four plastic dowels.

Now place the second tier carefully. Decorate the cake the way you want. Finally to secure the cakes together, take a big dowel, carefully insert into the cake till it touches the base of the drum. You can cover the hole on the top with some cake topper or cream flowers.

And there we have Two-tiered Cake ready.
